About us

Tortiteca was born in Rosario, Argentina, in 2021, in the hands of two friends eager to learn everything they could about lesbian cultures

Over the years, lovers, friends and activists have joined forces to make this project a reality on both sides of the Río Paraná rosarino y el mar Mediterraneo en Barcelona.

The word Tortiteca is a fusion of the words tortillera (lesbian) and biblioteca (library).
tortillera tortillera In Argentina, tortillera is one of the possible ways to refer to a lesbian, which has historically been used as an insult but, like many other terms in the history of dissent, has been proudly reappropriated by lesbian communities.

We are currently a non-profit associationmade up of migrant lesbian* activists who seek to network through the dissemination and appreciation of lesbian cultural assets.

We understand lesbian* as a permeable category that welcomes those who wish to inhabit it lovingly. This project, made with hearts and hunches, is open and eager for your proposals, so please do not hesitate to write to us.
